ENGLEWOOD, CO - September 6, 2001 - Katy Industries, Inc. (NYSE:KT) announced that its Board of Directors has elected Amir Rosenthal as Vice President, Chief Financial Officer, General Counsel and Secretary of the Company.

Prior to Joining Katy, Mr. Rosenthal was Treasurer of Timex Corporation. At Timex, he also served as Chairman of the Board of Timex Watches Limited, Timex's operating company in India. In addition, Mr. Rosenthal’s employment experience includes seven years in the in-house legal department at Timex and three years as a corporate associate in the New York office of LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae. Mr. Rosenthal is a graduate of Dartmouth College (A.B., 1983) and New York University School of Law (J.D., 1986).
